Christopher Kane FW11

Some might think Kane's designs are more tacky then cool but for me it's a no brainer. The are forward, smart and a cut above. I can't get enough! The jumping off point for this collection was the idea of sourcing a fabric or material that hasn't been used before. Collaborating with his sister Tammy, the team selected a blend of colored vegetable oil and glycerin encased in squiggly plastic sacks applied to shift dresses. They definitely succeeded! I haven't seen anything like this nor did any show from this season have the same impact on me. I LOVE IT! So much sexy, mid drifts, plunging necklines, sheerness, plastic... but not offensive!? (then again I'm not easily offended) The finale looks with the fanciful sequins are fantastic and maybe easier to digest then the series of stark black dresses because the colorful sacks of awesomeness blend better. Awesome. Ness.
